Canyon Rules 

With all that is going on

in the world, you are called upon 

once more, to follow 

the flow of river rock, sand

and sediment that leads you

to and through the deep canyon 

walls, where visible evidence 

of the ancestors dances in song 

and in story. Within you too, 

there are canyon walls that trace 

your own ancestry and tell 

tall tales of spirit.

In settling yourself still 

just before your inner canyon, 

let yourself be drawn in deeper 

by the scent of white sage 

not yet burning, still releasing 

a deep cleansing within you. 

Listen, the wind is talking, 

do you hear?
